Analyzes and adjusts staffing based on established parameters including targets from the patient classification system, core staff requirements, qualification of staff, and communication from Charge Nurses, Managers/Supervisors, and the House Supervisor utilizing the staffing information system (One-Staff).  Performs other duties that support the staffing process.



(May perform additional duties of similar complexity within SCHS as required or assigned)


Utilizes organizational and prioritization skills daily in managing workload and meeting timelines.


Develops a thorough knowledge of staffing practice and theory, staffing work instructions, nursing contracts, and the functioning and maintenance of the One-Staff information system.


Collaborates on staffing plans and changes with the House Supervisor or PCSS Management and assists the HS with daily shift meetings to review staffing plans.


Follows processes for identifying staffing requirements for patient care from the patient acuity system in the One-Staff application.


Monitors and compares staffing actual hours to targets each shift and documents variance

management via memos in the One-Staff application.


Actively communicates staffing changes to appropriate people (Charge Nurses, staff involved, etc.)


Pro-actively analyzes staffing for the next day and into the future following the forecasting process, makes calls to staff to fill vacancies, and informs unit management if staffing shortages still remain.


Completes tasks as outlined on the calendar such as reports and data back-ups, or other tasks as assigned.


Learns specific tasks such as long-term forecasting, ETO processing, staffing incident data management, printing and distribution of schedules, status changes and management in One-staff, and reporting of data as requested by Manager.


Promotes and supports teamwork among peers.


Participates in continual process improvement analysis activities.


Provides excellent customer service including follow through to resolution or referral to appropriate person following guidelines for telephone and email communication.


Education:  High School diploma or GED equivalent required.  Additional college courses in information systems or business required.  Office management training preferred.




Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.


Experience:  Two years general office experience required, preferably in a hospital environment.  Office management skills preferred.  Working knowledge of computers required.  Word processing and database manipulation skills required.
