The Registered Sleep Trainee performs overnight testing procedures and processes data in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position does not oversee other Caregivers. A sleep trainee develops competency in and performs basic sleep testing procedures and associated interventions. The sleep trainee works under direct supervision of a sleep technician or a sleep technologist.

Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs
Performs sleep study data acquisition for pediatric and adult PSGs according to ordering provider.
Performs Split and PAP titration studies.
Administers supplemental low flow oxygen therapy per ordering provider or as direct by oxygen therapy protocol
Monitors capnography during polysomngram
Performs basic troubleshooting to maintain data integrity
Fields any Home Sleep Apnea Testing questions patients may have
Responsible for patient care during overnight testing procedures.
Educates and informs patients about sleep procedures
Participates and completes Monthly interscore reliability Exams to meet QA on Sleep Record Scoring.
Follows sleep center and SCHS protocols
Recognizes and activates emergency precautions.
Supplemental low flow oxygen therapy per ordering provider or as direct by oxygen therapy protocol

Required: High school diploma or GED.
Preferred: Two (2) year college degree.
Candidate must meet one of the following requirements:
Current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology.
Have one of the following credentials: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT), Paramedic (EMT-P), Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT), Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT), Certified Athletic Trainer (AT), or Medical Technologist (MT).
Current BLS certification required. Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet SCHS driving requirements.
