Overview

The General Radiologic Technologist  performs all Radiographic studies and related procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision in accordance with established department and clinic guidelines.   This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

Responsibilities

(May perform additional duties of similar complexity within SCHS as required or assigned)

 

 Performs diagnostic radiology examinations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols.

 

Prepares patient for procedures by explaining the procedure to the patient, in a manner that creates an environment where the patient is comfortable and at ease during the procedure.

 

Positions patients properly to obtain the best image while providing a calm and caring demeanor.  Utilizes the proper positioning and placement protocols to ensure images are taken in accordance with the provider’s directions..

 

Sets the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged.

 

Takes preventative steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation. Follows Health and Safety Policies and Procedures of quality patient care.

 

Assists in record maintenance and statistics as requested.

 

Recognizes, reports, and records observations and care provided in compliance with SCHS policies and regulatory agencies.

 

Stocks unit, transports patients, and assists in keeping the unit clean and free of clutter.

 

Cleans equipment and helps identify need for maintenance.  

 

Participates in student training program as requested.

 

Provides coverage General Radiology in Bend and Redmond (Prineville for Prineville caregivers) including on call coverage, holiday and weekend relief as needed.

 

Assists with special projects as requested.

 

Performs  General Radiology  examinations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols.

 

Follows Health and Safety Policies and Procedures of quality patient care.

 

Assists in record maintenance and statistics as requested.

 

Participates in student training program as requested.

 

Assists with special projects as requested.

 

Provides coverage General Radiology in Bend and Redmond (Prineville for Prineville caregivers) including on call coverage, holiday and weekend relief as needed.

 

Competent skills working with StatRad System.

Qualifications

 

Education: 

AS required for licensure and certification

 

Must be registry eligible or graduate of a certified radiologic technology training program.

 

Licensure/Certification/Registration: 

Current  ARRT and OregonState license in Radiologic Technology (OBMI) required. 

Temporary license through Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) will be accepted and must obtain permanent OBMI license with in 90days.

BLS Certified or must obtain within 6 months upon hire.

 

Personal Protective Equipment:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

 

Experience: 

Minimum 1 year experience in Diagnostic Radiography preferred.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Physical Requirements

Continually (75% or more): Standing and walking, keyboard operation, use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.

Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds. The use and operation of a motor vehicle for Home Health and Wound Caregivers.

Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/step-stool (varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear whispered speech level.

Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs.

Never (0%): Climbing ladder/step-stool (varies by area), operation of a motor vehicle.

Exposure to Elemental Factors

Rarely (10%): Wet/slippery area, chemical solution.

Never (0%): Heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface.
